What is it
This is some random anime rating place. Its really as simple as that. This is a place where people can come and tell what they think about any anime they have seen.
Register
The first thing you should probably do is register. Without registering, all you can do is look at things. So on the left you should see a register link. Click that and it will take you to the register page. The only information that is required is your username and email. Once you submit your information an email will be sent off containing your password. You should then log in with that password and change it to something you can remember.
Logging in is very simple. All you do is click the login link on the left and then enter your username and password on the page it takes you to. Hit the login button and, assuming you entered the information correctly, you should be logged in.
User Options
The user options link only appears once you are logged in. If you are logged in then you should see it on the left with all the other ones. This is the page you need to go to in order to change any information you entered when registering as well as your password. You simply enter the information you want to change (you have to enter your password twice) then hit the change user options button and it should be done.
Add Anime
First let me just say that before adding an anime you should check to see if it is in the system already. Once you have checked that out then click the add anime link on the left. The first thing you need to do on this page is enter the title of the anime you are wanting to add into the title field. Once you have that done you will have a decision to make. Is the anime you are adding one that is already in the system under a different name or is it completely new to the system? If its completely new then you need to mark the box by the word description and then enter a description in the bigger box there. If its just another name for an anime that is already in the system then mark the box by the word link and choose the name for the anime that is already in the system from the pull down menu. This menu only lists names that aren't links to other names so you don't have to worry about selecting a link instead of the actual name in the system. Next just hit the add anime button. This will take you to a thank you page. If you click the name of the anime on this page it will take you to the page that was just created for that anime
List Anime
This is one of the ways to find an anime that is in the system already. When you click the list anime link on the left it will take you to a page where you can choose how you want lists of anime grouped. You can group animes either alphabetically or by rating. If you group by rating you will lose the titles that are links to other titles because links don't have a rating of their own. So if you click on the grouping style that you want you will then see a page with the titles of the anime, the rating they have, and the number of ratings/reviews that have been done for that anime. Simply click the title of the anime you want and you will go to its page. If an anime title is a link to another title (and you are in an alphabetic grouping) then you will see in the rating box the word link followed by a colon and then the rating for the title it is linked to. Clicking the name of a linked title will simply take you to the page for the anime it is linked to.
Search Anime
Clicking the search anime link on the left will take you to the search anime page. Basically it is just a very simple search function. All it does is takes the text you entered and searches for it in the areas that you specify. There are no wildcards or anything. It just looks for any instance of the text you enter. So if you search for the word "me" it will find anything that has the word "me" in it as well: me, anime, some, etc. So the areas that you can search are the titles, descriptions, and reviews. Just check the ones you want to search and hit the search button. Its really quite simple.
Anime page
On the page for any specific anime you will find the title, rating, and descriptiong for that anime at the top of the page. Below this information you will see the various ratings and reviews that people have entered for the anime. If you are logged in and are the one that added the anime or a review for it then you will see an edit link by whatever it is that you added. So if you ever make a mistake in something and don't realize it till after the fact, you can go back and fix it. Editing things is just like how you did things originally so I'm not going over it again.
Rate/Review
When you are on an anime page you will notice that there is a rate/review link to the left. Being that the main purpose of this place is rating it seemed fair to highlight this link even. Thus why it is a different color. I should point out though that if you have already rated the anime that you are on the page for then the rate/review link will not show. You are only allowed one rating per anime. So if you click on the link you will go to the rate/review page for whichever anime page you are on. On the page you should now be at you will see several required things and several optional things. The first thing to look at is the category ratings. The way these work is that you choose what you want to rate from the category pull down menu and then you select a rating of excellent, exceptional, good, average, bad, terrible, or horrid. These ratings don't actually effect anything, but rather are used to give a user an impression of what the anime is like. So for instance, you could give an anime a low humor rating to show that its not really a comedy type anime. This doesn't mean its not a good anime, which is why these values don't effect any overall ratings. The current categories you can choose are: graphics, sound, story, characters, originality, humor, atmosphere, consistency, weirdness, rewatchability, length, confusion, idiocy, pace, ending, intangibles, style, sentimentality, enjoyment. You are required to rate at least three categories and are given the option to rate up to 8 of them. This is so that all ratings will have a certain minimum level of information with the possibility for a higher level. Also if you wish for more categories to be added then go to the message board, there should be a thread there for category suggestions. Next you will notice that there is a required overall rating which uses a 0 to 9.9 scale. This is the rating that effects the rating for the anime as a whole. The way the calculation works is that the value you enter is averaged with all the other values that have been entered. This value is then rounded to two decimal places and set as the rating for the anime. So use this overall rating to tell what you think of the anime as a whole. The last field is the optional review field. This is where you can put into words anything you wish to say about this anime. If you want to explain in more detail your ratings, feel free. If you want to compare it to another anime, go right ahead. As long as you talk about the anime you are reviewing then it is fine. So once you have all the required fields entered and whatever optional ones you want, just hit the rate/review button and it will take you to a thank you page much like the one for adding an anime.
Message Board
If you can't figure out by now where the button for that is then you have some serious issues. I'm actually getting really lazy now so I'm thinking that I will let figuring out the message board be an exercise for the reader. Consider it homework, I know you all just love homework.
